Hello, everyone. [ Giving a small wave. ]

For team introductions, humans often have ice breakers to get to know one another, correct? [ Not waiting for an answer, he holds out a palm and creates a frosty crystal of ice. ]

Yes, not many humans are capable of producing ice. But icebreakers consist of a fun fact to share, so I assumed this would be a good icebreaker in both ways.

[ There is so much trying here. ]

You have many interesting things about you, Sakunosuke Oda. Shall I pick for you?

[ Please don't let him do this, it's not like they even know each other well but Alcor spends a large amount of this time "people watching". ]

A person who puts other's lives ahead of their own is anything but dull—their light shines brightly than others, and it is they who are capable of tearing the threads of fate asunder.

[ Maybe less creepy, more suddenly philosophical and poetic. ]

Well, back in my world we wound up doing something similar to this world, but since my world had star energy, our technology went down a path where most people tend to power everything with that? So while I can't exactly make ice myself, I could power something that could.

...Back home at least. Star energy doesn't exactly work well with electricity here.

[Yes, yes it is.]

...star energy?

[personal profile] duskhound 2019-06-23 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Star energy is basically what people from my world use to create magic, though we also use it electricity is used here. It's called star energy because it's considered a blessing from the Star God.

A Star God... what is this God's name?
duskhound: (Default)

[personal profile] duskhound 2019-06-23 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't actually know. Our religion kind of made a point of specifically avoiding saying the Star God's name, in the belief that it's blasphemy. I believe the people that receive the Star God's prophecies know it, as do most of the higher ups of the Aterra Church. That being said, as an Inquisitor, I'm part of the Gracia Church, so it's not something I would know.

I am aware humans worship many beings, but this is new to me in it's intensity and focus. I wonder...
duskhound: (Default)

[personal profile] duskhound 2019-06-23 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's not really a surprise, since we are from different worlds, after all. In the case of my world, Aterra, only the Star God's worshiped, but we have 6 different "main" churches that all focus their efforts in different directions. The Aterra Church is the "main" one, claims the charge of the Ether element, and their job is to receive prophecies from the Star God, as well as various other things, since we do kind of live in a Theocracy. The Gracia Church is in charge of the Dusk element, and most of the Gracia Church's job is making sure that people don't abuse the power of Dusk, seeing as it's the most dangerous of all the elements.

Of course, and there are near infinite potentials even in the Akashic Record. [ More to himself than to her, he redirects his focus. ]

As an inquisitor then, you are a protector of the natural order of things?
duskhound: (Default)

[personal profile] duskhound 2019-06-23 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not how I would put it, but it's not exactly wrong either. It's not like we actually knew at the time that overexposure to Dusk literally turns people into monsters.

We mostly just knew that it can be used to control people's minds, so that kind of power needs to be kept locked away so that nobody can use it.

Ah, so that Port Mafia thing he mentioned is actually pretty important, then... From his own statements, he's "the youngest executive in the history of Port Mafia" right now. Or, was before he got brought here, at least. So he probably doesn't have the experience of being the Boss yet, but if he's an Executive, he's probably still pretty dangerous, huh?

...And as long as the game's going on, he's technically our superior.

[...This is a bad situation, isn't it?]

I'm good with languages! Aside from that... I can sniff out magic emissions, can emit star energy, am a trained marksman, have some experience tracking...

Oh! I'm apparently a magical girl too, but I don't have any of my equipment, so I can't actually transform around here.
overconfidant: (/staring into camera like The Office)

[personal profile] overconfidant 2019-06-23 07:35 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of that sounds useful, but what's star energy?
duskhound: (proud)

[personal profile] duskhound 2019-06-23 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm... The simplest way to describe it as processed magical energy? My own world used it as an equivalent to electricity; Most advanced tools and appliances take in star energy from a user, and than apply it to do whatever it's designed to do. If you know how to use spells, you can use them to cast those too.

As for where it comes from... In my world, most people take in Ether -- you can consider it something like raw magical energy, from the environment, and then our bodies convert ether into Star Energy, which our bodies use in a lot of different ways. Our bodies get exhausted really easily if we don't have access to Ether or Star Energy, but having too much Star Energy causes a lot of problems too, so by the time we're adults, we kind of unconsciously emit the excess Star Energy. My society was kind of built around technology making use of Star Energy as a way to make use of that excess Star Energy we're going to emit out anyways.
overconfidant: (As long as I don't talk I look cool.)

[personal profile] overconfidant 2019-06-24 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Huh... That's interesting. So that means 'Ether' exists here, too, somehow, doesn't it?
duskhound: (Default)

[personal profile] duskhound 2019-06-26 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It does, yeah. Honestly, even my own world had a few areas where there weren't any ether, which made investigation almost impossible... But I haven't experienced anything like that around in this world.

I mean, aside from places like this weakening our powers. Hotel California did that, too. That might just be an aspect of these sentient houses?
duskhound: (Default)

[personal profile] duskhound 2019-06-23 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
...Ah... Then, I should probably bring up some of my stuff too.

In my own world, I was actually an Inquisitor for the Gracia Church. Most of that job
consisted of hunting down people abusing Dusk Magic and... putting an end to them.

[Hi, I was an assassin too, but one for the church.]

I can pick locks, shoot, I'm pretty athletic, and I have a decent mix of elemental, healing, and buff/debuff powers.

[ Hopefully~. ]

Comparatively, I am not capable of any of those skills aside from elemental magic. Sports truly are one of the more impressive creations of man, but with their mastery of walking it is unsurprising that they deigned to continue to evolve their physical prowess.
