[At some ambiguous time that doesn't mess with any of the other threads, Saki approaches Oda. They both knew it had to happen at some point; now that they have a reprieve, it's best to get it over with, she thinks.]
[ despite his calm expression on the outside, oda’s head is already twisting with ideas of what saki wants to tell him. he knows that it’s about his actions in the house, which continue to weigh on him even now.
he nods, already preparing himself for the worst. ]
She tilts her head away, thinking over her words carefully.]
...There's a lot I want to do in this world. Or-- try to, at least. I have no idea if I'll be able to, of course, but...
[...]
Based on what Frisk said, someone like me... could eventually be a candidate for O5. [Which apparently takes literal hundreds of years to achieve.] That's the kind of thing I want to work towards.
If there’s anyone that can do it, I think that it’d be you.
[ oda feels a little overwhelmed by the prospect of being with someone that wants to be an o5. someone with so much power—hell, just the idea of knowing that she can (somehow) live for that long... ]
We'll see. [She still has her doubts in her leadership abilities, but she now knows that part of it is a lack of experience.
And, well. She has a long time to earn that, now doesn't she?]
Still... it's going to be a long, long journey. Not only that, but there are still people I want to protect for as long as I can, too. I want to support people as much as I can, but... I won't ever be able to turn everything else away to support one person. Not only that, but if I really do learn how to stop my aging, the distance in our ages will just keep growing.
I understand if that doesn't work for you.
[There's just too many things she has to do. And as nice as it would be to have a relationship, she can't ignore the scope of what she's trying to achieve, and what it means for her personal life.]
I never expected you to give up anything for me. And I wouldn’t want you to do that, either.
[ if anything, the fact that she’s still with him means a lot to him, more than he’s capable of showing. he had expected her to move on as soon as it was all over, and the fact that it didn’t happen was more surprising than all of this.
deep down, oda expected something like this. that she would become a leader and help change the world, while his dreams went as far as living a quiet, quaint life as an author. ]
It seems that my existence caused a lot of pain and suffering for many people, back in my world. [ atsushi, dazai— how many dreams were sacrificed just so oda could accomplish his? this is something that plagues him every night. ] I can’t turn back time, but I want to... try again and do something good. So... even if I won’t be able to support you for hundreds of years, I’d like to use what’s left of my life for that. To support you.
though usually oda would be one of those making an attempt to stop a murder along with the rest of the agents, tonight is much different. because tonight he'll be the one that will be committing a murder.
or, better yet said--one of the people that will commit a murder. that is, if his suspicions are correct. though he's not a detective that's worth anyone's time, oda trusts his instincts as a killer to point him towards any potential threats.
and it's that spider that scares him more than anyone else under this roof. something--whether it's instinct or not--tells him that he will be meeting that man tonight. james moriarty.
and yet he's rather calm about it. sitting in the kitchen table, he takes a sip from the mug of coffee in his hands, as he waits for the other person's arrival. ]
[There is fate that tie people together, though he would never say that out loud. Tied by the paths they take, over and over again.
It's this path that has led them both to this night - and as he quietly comes down the stairs, Oda will see he's in his full Servant garb, casually looking over to the man with a gentle smile.]
Ah, Oda. Late night, hm?
[His voice is light - friendly. But the intent -
It's hidden, but the quietest whisper of killing intent is there. The shining threads of the web lurk around him, manifests in the way he takes in the other man.]
Perhaps you'd be willing to join me in a patrol route around the house?
[ oda studies moriarty carefully, his eyes never separating from the older man as he speaks in such friendly tone.
and yet he's aware enough to see the venom behind it, the killing intent that makes oda feel like he's prey. ]
I don't see why not. [ his voice is even, even while staring at certain death in the face. if he's prey, then he'll make sure that he goes down fighting. ] The backyard is large, after all--you'll probably need the help.

Can we talk?

Yeah. Go ahead.

What are you planning to do from now on?

[ he shrugs ]
I feel like there’s a lot I need to work on but...I’m not sure where to start.

...Well, I won't ask for hundreds of years from you. But if you think you can stand it...
I'd like to continue being with you, too.
[He'll have a lot to keep up with, of course. But if he thinks he can match her pace...
There's things that need to be worked out, naturally. But so long as they live in this world, they have plenty of time for that, too.]

[ let oda stare at her with wide eyes. he didn't expect her to say that at all? hello???? oda.exe has stopped working.
once he reacts, oda looks down, a small smile on his lips. ]
You plan to be alive for hundreds of years, right? Then I'll do my best to cherish every moment I can get with you.

[She tucks her hands behind her back peering up at him.]
It's kind of unfair how good you are with words sometimes.
[He keeps saying such charming things!]

Really? I never noticed.

[He knows the other man has picked up on it - the air between them is practically suffused with their intentions.
Yet, he's calm - just as Moriarty himself is, no nerves or fear.
(The sound of the falls echoes in his ears, faintly.)]
Ah, we should also patrol around the front and to the side - near the garage, just to be safe.
